A unique collaboration between Octorara Intermediate School and Octorara Area High School art students brought creativity to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
Earlier this school year, third-grade students in Mrs. Geislerâs art class designed and illustrated their own original monsters, showcasing their imagination and creativity. Unbeknownst to them, their work would later serve as the inspiration for a larger collaborative project.
Over the following weeks, high school ceramics students in Mrs. Biegâs class selected and transformed several of those drawings into detailed ceramic sculptures. Through this process, students translated two-dimensional ideas into three-dimensional forms, carefully preserving the originality and character of each design.
When the students came together, third graders had the opportunity to see their artwork reimagined in clay for the first time. This experience provided a powerful moment of connection across grade levels and offered insight into the artistic process from concept to completion.
This collaboration highlights the strength of the districtâs art program and the value of providing students with authentic, hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, communication, and collaboration.
These collaborative pieces will be on display at the K-5 Art Show on April 1, 2026. Food trucks will be available from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and the art show will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Kâ5 art departments.
This event provides an opportunity for the community to celebrate student creativity while supporting the continued growth of the districtâs art programs.
