Octorara Intermediate School students demonstrated their knowledge and passion for environmental education at this year’s Chester County Environthon, held at Hibernia Park on April 22, 2026.
Throughout the school year, students in grades 3–5 committed to arriving early each week to deepen their understanding of environmental topics, including aquatics, forestry, wildlife, outdoor safety, and current environmental issues. This dedicated group built a strong foundation of knowledge, with fourth and fifth grade students earning the opportunity to represent Octorara at the county-level competition on Earth Day.
Team B—Henrik Metzler, Tadeo Tenorio, Caroline Riffey, Miles Repsher, Ana Kozacheson, and Goldie Brendle—delivered an outstanding performance, earning first place in Outdoor Safety and third place in the Current Issue category, which focused on nonpoint source pollution.
Team C—Grayson Lynch, Erin Miller, Eli King, Nate Campos, Elizabeth Haws, and Seamus Ralston—also earned multiple recognitions, placing second in Outdoor Safety, third in the Current Issue category, and fifth in Forestry.
Team A—Beatric Marcey-Davey, Ervy Fackler, Asher Jurich, Jake Harris, and Grace Bowen—contributed to the team’s overall success with a fourth-place finish in the Current Issue category.
Despite challenging weather conditions, students demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship throughout the day.
Octorara is proud of all participating students for their hard work and achievements, as well as their dedication to learning about and protecting the natural world.
