Joint Press Release
By
Octorara Area School District Board of Directors
And
Octorara Area Education Association, PSEA/NEA
The Octorara Area School District Board of Directors voted on Monday July 18, 2022 to approve an
agreement with the Octorara Area Education Association. The agreement that the Association is
presently working under expires June 30, 2022. The new agreement was previously ratified by the
members of the Octorara Area Education Association which represents 183 Professional Employees and
94 Support Employees. Upon ratification by the Board of Directors, Amanda Kieffer and Adam Udell, representing the Association came forward to officially notify the public of the Association’s ratification of the agreement.
The four-year agreement, starting July 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2026, provides teacher salary increases of 3.2% over 4 years maintaining a competitive balance with surrounding school districts in Chester County. Increased starting salary and modified wages for support and clerical staff, along with access to a telemedicine benefit for all staff, will position the district to be more aligned with industry and lead to retention of employees. Benefits to the district include continuing the Qualified High Deductible health plan with minimal cost increases and greater flexibility with class scheduling to allow more educational opportunities for students.
