The Octorara Area School District has partnered with local businesses to showcase the highlights of our community at the Octorara Agriculture,     Chester & Lancaster Counties has always been well known for their rich agricultural history. What better way to celebrate the past, present, and future opportunities in the field of agriculture than at the Octorara Agriculture, Business, Environmental Science and Technology Expo (OABEST). This is a fun filled day of showcasing and learning about the influence agriculture has within our own local communities. Agriculture has evolved, and is no longer just about “cows & plows”. This year OABEST will be taking place on June 1st at 9:30 am until 1:30 pm at the Octorara Junior/Senior High School campus.

 

Citadel, Dutchland, Inc., Chester/Delaware County Farm Bureau, Chester County Economic Development Council, Herr’s Foods, and Wawa are just a few of the many organizations that will be participating and celebrating the present and future of the agriculture industry. Some local businesses and organizations will also be in attendance offering a variety of interactive and educational demonstrations.

 

Science fair exhibits, K-12 art show, first responder demonstrations, crafts, music, children’s games, petting zoo, hayrides, antique tractors, goose and waterfowl 101, and the bumblebee train are a few of the many activities that the Octorara students will be offering throughout the day. Let’s not forget the food! Octorara Student Council provides hot dogs and burgers, while Kona Ice and the Chester County Dairy Trailer, offer delicious water ice, ice cream and milkshakes.   Along with the Mobile Ag Lab, there will be numerous other vendors and demonstrations. There will certainly be something for everyone to enjoy!
