An athletic trainer is a certified and licensed healthcare professional who provides services to athletes and physically active patients in various settings. They are trained in injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, healthcare administration, and treatment and rehabilitation.
You can find athletic trainers working in a multitude of settings, including but not limited to: secondary school athletics, colleges/universities, industrial worksites, military, and performing arts.
Athletic trainers collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other medical professionals in and beyond the sports medicine field to provide appropriate treatment options for all of our athletes.
Only 37% of public secondary schools in the U.S. have a full-time athletic trainer. Octorara Junior Senior High School contracts with ATI Physical Therapy to hire a full-time athletic trainer to provide healthcare services to our athletes.
