Scott Davis, a senior at Octorara High school, has become the top small engine mechanic in the state of PA by coming in first place in the state FFA small engine contest. In order to place first, Scott had to diagnose a small engine that was not running and fix it. Scott also had to be able to read and understand the engine’s manual and have knowledge of the tools used to work on small engines. He also had to write a bill out with the parts needed and add the cost of labor, along with dealing with the customer.

Octorara also had an Agriculture Technology& Mechanical Systems team place 5th in the state. The team consisted of Clayton Carlin (1st year), Xander Wiseman (1st year), Joe Gehron (2rd year) and Sean Miller (3rd year).  Clayton Carlin placed 4th individual in the state. This competition deals with the knowledge of tool identification, welding, electrical, plumbing, surveying, GPS, construction, engines, engineering and safety. These skills are taught in Mr. Graydus’ Mechanical System CTE course.
