A Special Note from the Principal

    March 14, 2019

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

It’s difficult to believe that the 2nd trimester is now over and we only have approximately 60 days of school remaining in the 2018-2019 school year.  Once again, I would like to thank you for your support of your child’s education as you work with your child at home and stay in communication with your child’s teacher.  The students at OES have worked extremely hard to be successful in school and I am proud of their efforts.  I look forward to seeing them finish the school year strong.  Additionally, I would like to share some important information with you.

First, as you are aware, our mandated state PSSA testing is occurring during the month of April.  Please remember that educational trips won’t be approved during the testing dates.  Additionally, your assistance in making sure your child attends school on these dates is extremely appreciated.   If your child misses school on a testing date, he/she will have to make up that session on a make-up date.  If you haven’t done so already, please mark your calendar with these PSSA testing dates:

    • April 15 to April 17 – ELA                        3rd and 4th Graders
    • April 24 and April 25 – Mathematics         3rd and 4th Graders
    • April 30 and May 1 – Science                   4th Graders

Second, please take notice of our remaining snow make-up dates and calendar changes due to weather related cancellations.  School will NOW be in session:

    • April 18 – Full Day for Students
    • April 22 – Full Day for Students
    • May 10 - Full Day for Students
    • May 31 – Early Dismissal at 12:30
    • June 5 - Now Full Day for Students
    • June 6, 7, 10 - Early Dismissal at 12:30
    • June 10 – Last Student Day (if we have more snow days, the last day will change)

Once again, thank you for supporting your child’s education.  I look forward to a positive remainder of the school year for all of our students.

    Yours in Education,

    Mr. Brian C. Dikun
