Meet Dr. Propper

  • Dr. Propper has been employed in a variety of educational settings during his tenure. His experience in working with middle and high school students in both public and private institutions affords him the ability to fulfill his duties as assistant principal with a comprehensive understanding of what our students need.
    With today's emphasis being placed on educational accountability and career readiness, Dr. Propper believes Octorara is poised to make great strides in academic achievement. "Our teachers are dedicated to creating a more robust educational program so that our students will be equipped with the tools to make them successful as they leave our schools and enter college, the military or the work force."

    Dr. Propper grew up in Salisbury on Maryland's Eastern Shore. He graduated high school from James M. Bennett Senior High. Mr. Propper attended Salisbury University for his undergraduate work and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History-Secondary Education.

    Dr. Propper began his teaching career at Parkville Middle School in Baltimore County.

    After a brief stint in the computer software industry, Dr. Propper returned to education as a social studies teacher at the independent Mt. St. Joseph High School in Baltimore. There he taught Psychology, U.S. History and World History in grades 10-12. Dr. Propper's most recent teaching experience was with Edgewood High School in Harford County. He taught ninth grade U.S. Government and tenth grade World History. While teaching, Dr. Propper completed his Masters in Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he completed a doctoral program in Educational Leadership at Drexel University.

    Entering his fourteenth year at Octorara, Dr. Propper has served the district in a variety of roles including assistant principal, principal, athletic director and district administrator.

    Dr. Propper resides in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, playing rugby and spending time with his wife Frances, son Ryan and daughter Emma.
